If you clicked on the patriotic bouquet above yesterday, the link took you to a cheesy 4th of July page I made a couple of years ago when I was naive about America and even worse at building websites than I am now. It's funny, I don't remember people questioning other people's patriotism in the old days, unless that person was burning a flag or doing something else overtly anti-American. I always felt like patriotism was presumed in an American, a given. Now, patriotism as I always knew it seems to have been replaced by something I'm not sure how to define. It's as though buying a bigger flag for your front yard than your neighbor has is an act of patriotism, but speaking out against corruption in government is unpatriotic. I was blessed to have been a little kid when our country celebrated its Bicentennial in 1976. Patriotism and what-not was all we talked about at school. Every subject seemed to have a Revolutionary War connection, so I've always felt pretty grounded in my patriotism, but all the same I built a new 4th of July page, to try and keep up with the changing times. Join 3rd Strike's E-Team 3rd Strike will be playing both the Warped Tour and Ozzfest this year. Join the E-Team and earn tickets. Who's 3rd Strike? Well, you can watch the video for the song "No Light" below from the ESPN Ultimate X movie soundtrack, courtesy of Hollywood Records, and see for yourself. It's an interesting video. There's this real big guy (Jim Korthe, above) singing this mellow, sensitive song about oppression and what-not, then all of a sudden he breaks into a hard-core rap that sounds like good War on Tyranny stuff. Pretty good motorcycle jumps all through the video, too. Windows Media Lo Speed High Speed
Note: If you're not using broadband internet service, you should consider DirectTV DSL. You don't need a satellite dish to use it. Downloads are instant and the quality of the videos is so much better that what you see and hear using a dial-up connection. Permanent link Tell a friend
