Ashanti & Goodfellas

I thought that one of the reasons Ashanti's "Foolish" video was such a big smash was because it was a take-off of the movie Goodfellas, but having done an informal survey I've found out that a lot of Ashanti fans aren't aware of the background of video. So click below for a movie trailer from Goodfellas courtesy of
NetFlix. It kind of gives you another side of the story, but not the rest of the story. Don't let the glamour of the gangster life portrayed here fool you...it ends up badly for everyone you see. They are either dead, in prison, or just plain hating it now.
I have to say this is one of my all-time favorite films, in spite of the fact that I generally don't go for violence, of which there's a good deal in this movie and the trailer. If you want to know the real story behind this true story, click here

Note: If you're not using broadband internet service, you should consider DirectTV DSL. You don't need a satellite dish to use it. Downloads are instant and the quality of the videos is so much better that what you see and hear using a dial-up connection.

Welcome Delegates from the Ann Coulter Convention
I'm getting, like, a zillion hits on this page I made one time when I was in a snit about Ann Coulter. I couldn't figure out why that page is getting hit so hard, but now I know: It seems that Ann Coulter was on the Today Show this morning, and she and Katy Couric were going at it like a couple of wet cats. You can read about the unpleasantness in this article from E! Online. Thus, the traffic, which generally spills over, at least a little bit, to this page.
So, welcome! If you're an Ann Coulter enthusiast, you've no doubt already pegged me as a "liberal", although I'm actually Libertarian. But make yourself at home! Feel free to look around, and enjoy!
Cheers!

I've been busy putting these little translation buttons on some of the pages, in case English is not your native tongue. That translation software can be buggy sometimes, making what you wrote sound silly when literally translated. If you write something about "kids" it comes back translated as "young goats". I translated this page into Spanish and then back into English so you can see what I mean. None of the links on that page work, though. Speaking of links, I put some hyperlinks in the Patriot Quotes on the 4th of July page, to make the message more clear.

Greetings from Utah

Our hearts go out to our neighbors in Utah. The nation has had its eyes on the Beehive State for most of the year. First with the Olympics, and more recently the search for missing 14-year old Elizabeth Smart.Elizabeth Smart - Missing in Utah
There's something else going on in Utah, though, that merits interest...swarms of crickets are overtaking entire communities, laying to waste 3.5 million acres and costing Utah farmers $25 million dollars.
According to the Salt Lake Tribune, "Crickets march 50 miles in a lifetime in broad bands, stopping only to eat their fallen comrades. They can make roads slick as ice and exacerbate drought-driven dust storms by consuming foliage. Each cricket gobbles 38 pounds of plant matter in its lifetime."  At any rate, they are making life miserable for a good many Utah residents.
I wasn't surprised that neither the Utah Red Cross nor the United Way of Utah addressed this crisis on their websites;these bureaucratic "charities" are long on back-patting and fund-raising, like we saw in DC earlier this week.
I've written to the writer of the Salt Lake Tribune article, asking how the nation can rally around and help these devastated farmers, besides our  prayers and well-wishes and all that.  As soon as I find out I'll let you know.

What do you do when you find something online that you feel is a security threat, so you report it to the authorities, but nobody seems to give a care? Here's the story: A couple of months ago I was looking around for some IPIX Virtual Tours and I stumbled across a "virtual tour" at a government site, "the world's first underground repository licensed to safely and permanently dispose of transuranic radioactive waste left from the research and production of nuclear weapons." Also from the website, "Using iPIX 360° interactive images, one can view important areas of XXXX, both above ground and below, and move from one viewpoint to the next." They're not exaggerating. And if that weren't handy enough for helping the would-be terrorists get to know their way around the facility, this website offers detailed floor plans. I didn't say anything about it on any of my websites, so as not to give ideas to any dirty-bomb-material-seeking "terra-ists", however I did attempt to bring the website to the attention of the facility itself, the Public Safety office in that region, the main Homeland Security office, as well as the Dept. of Justice, FBI, and my elected representatives. Not one reply did I get from any of them. Furthermore, it's been over two months and the website is still there, so I feel I have no choice but to bring it to the public's attention. You can see it yourself at
Edited...sorry, I couldn't leave the website link there. If you want to see the site for yourself, email me and I'll send you the link.
If you think this shouldn't be online, maybe you can get someone to take it down. They wouldn't listen to me. Perhaps you're a person with a little more influence. Here's how to contact your lawmakers and here's how to contact the media. See if they think it's no big deal.

Myth Versus Reality: The Google Search
Click the link above for the results of a Google search using the phrase "myth vs reality". Myths on topics ranging from migraines to astroturf to Walmart can be dispelled here. With 2,870 results, that should keep a person busy while I work on the news page. You'll notice there is now a blog for Child Protection in the news. Also, there are keyword headline feeds using keywords that usually bring interesting results, like "indicted" and "lawsuit".
